A note on requirements for admission:
At Sunflower we believe everyone has a right to education and as a result we do not required any previous education to be accepted. Instead we evaluate student readiness through their completion of the application, engagement in the interviewing process, and whether or not their learning goals are aligned with the mission, vision, and values of Sunflower SC&E and if they are able to complete the CPE program which does require in-person attendance twice a unit for a 3-day retreat in New Orleans, meals and boarding provided (travel scholarships available; contact us for more information).

ACPE-Accredited Clinical Pastoral Education Units:
Classes run for 10 weeks and require:
every Thursday from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm CST via Zoom
Five 1-hour individual consultations throughout the unit
Five Learning Events per unit, including but are not limited to verbatims, group dynamics analysis, leadership theory development, board certification materials (integration of spiritual care theory & practice, spiritual caregiving competency, organizational leadership), didactic presentations, and/or other events developed in consultation with the Educator.
Attendance at two retreats in New Orleans in the first month and last week of the program.
Retreat programming begins at noon on Thursday and ends by noon Saturday.
All meals are provided and free lodging is available upon request at Canal Street Church.
Annual Schedule:
Spring: 1st week of March through mid May
2026 Retreat Dates: March 19-21 and May 7-9
2026 First Class Date: March 5th 4:00 pm-8:00 pm CST via Zoom
Summer: 1st week of June through mid August
Fall: 1st week of September through mid November
Winter: 1st week of December through mid February
